Recently my Torch's tentacles have gotten extra stringy and really long.

Is this normal?

I tested parameters a couple days ago.

Amm 0
Trite 0
Trate 5-10
ph- 8.4
Salt 1.026
ATI 6 bulb t-5 kit.

As of last Thursday my para was for mg/calc/alk:

Mg 1350
Calc 390
Alk6.3

I neglected dosing my 2 part for about a week or so. However, over the course of the next couple days, I raised them slightly each day till:
Calc 420
Alk 9.3

My only thought is they weren't getting enough light, and thus were stretching for either food or light. However, other corals and my clam look OK for the most part.

I'm gonna take the canopy off and clean off the splash shield on the t5 fixture. It's got a little salt creep on it. IDK how much that could interfere with light getting to the corals tho.

Torch Stressed out?

Torch Stressed out?

:eek1:Nitrates to high and check your phosphates and do a good water change!! ASAP!!!!

5-10 is to high? That's pretty low Imo. Phosphate always read 0, but I know there is some in there. Tranferred my 37g into the new 125g. Algea is only growing on the new dry rock from marco. I figured the new rock is leachin phos. Been running gfo and carbon since feb. Just changed my ro/ di filters as well.

Water changes vary depending on how busy I am. I try to do 25g every week or every.other.

Feeding schedule is non existent. No fish are in the DT. I do feed my Orange Tube Coral every 2-3 days. I occasionally feed the torch once a week or so.

Yeah your nitrates are not the problem. Water perams. seem to be decent for the most part. Nothing is out of wack to cause the issue. I have quite a few torches in my tank and some days they extend farther than others. No real rhyme or reason. My thought is they are streching to see if they are competiting for space due to growth.

From what I have seen some torches have longer, skinnier polyps than others. Also my euphyllia extend out quite a bit more when they are under lower flow.

Yea that makes sense about the growth. They were never this long and skinny in my 37G. The 37g only had 3 t5 bulbs and I never dosed 2 part. They were much shorter and wider.

Since its been in the new DT in Feb, it has already grown another head. It seems healthy for the most part, it's just the change in appearance that had me worried.
