torch coral placement

I have got a torch coral which has about a dozen heads. It came unnattached to anything. I'd like to place it with its base directly on the sand bed but if I do that the tentacles from the lower heads will be in contact with the sand when they're out. Would that be okay?

Mine was on the sand like that for 2 months while I was acclimating it to LEDS and it never had a problem with sand and high flow

Although from my experience they are going to do whatever they want. I have a purple one that was on the sand and is growing fast. I had a pale green one that I had on a rock about 2in obove the one in the sand that has never grown or extended it's polyps after a year. And a third that was fine and disappeared overnight, just a skeleton left
