Torch Coral Pulling In

Ok tonight I noticed my Torch Coral has pulled in a lot more tonight. I have 10 stalks and 4 of them have pulled in and some strainy brown stuff has come our of them. If a hermit crab walks on them will the retract in?

its pooping. normal behavior. Yes, hermits can irritate them at times.

So when they poop they pull in? Interesting, didnt know a coral can poop, nice.

Yea, it will shrink down, excrete stringy brown substance and then reach full extension again. It eats so it must poop.

without a picture its hard to tell, and yes I agree that it's most likely excreting wastes, but there is also a brown jelly disease that you may want to be familiar with. try to do a bit of research to make certain what's taking place.
