I picked up a torch coral today (finally!) and just wanted some advice

I bought it from an lfs that already had it under mh lighting.

My tank.. 45 gallons, brand new hamilton 14k 250watt mh

should i move it down?

biggest question.. right now I have it a little more than half way up my tank, and its getting pretty strong flow. (probley the strongest flow in the tank is in this area)
but i would like it around here so its far enough away from mt bta that there wont be any problems. to much flow? the tencles are not swaying they are more.. whipping in the wind? lol

It seems to be happy. its only been in my tank about 4 hours

thanks for any advice!

Nice little torch frag! It looks pretty happy. Its full and extended after only 4 hours, so thats good. I would loeave it and see what happens. If he is where you want him and he looks happy, I wouldn't change anything.
If he starts looking bad , you may want to move him to a little lower flow but for now i'd leave him be.

Nice frag! I too bought only one head of torch last year. Now it has 5 heads and 3 of those are about to split. Feed it well and it will grow like mad.

My torch is in fairly high flow (for an LPS coral) as well, and seems to love it. As sufunk said, if it looks happy leave it be. IME higher flow and lots of feeding has lead to significant growth - I bought a single head a few months ago, now it's almost finished splitting into three, all of which are starting to split again.

nice. Ive tried putting mysis on it, but it floated off. do i need to put it on its mouth?

today it was all pulled in. but there was an astrea snail right by. i think it ran right over top its tenicles. they camr out agian later

I feed the tank a mixture of phyto, zooplankton, cyclopeeze and bits of frozen food every other night or so, and spot feed the LPS on the other days with things like mysis, brine, pieces of silverside, krill and shrimp. I also try to keep Ca, alk and Mg on the high side, because these guys take so much out of the water (the tank is only 30g and it's pretty full of LPS).

You can start it 'down' on the substrate, raising it as time passes. I feed cyclopeeze and my frogspawn and hammer [also euphyllia] seem to pick it up ok.
