For the past two weeks or so my torch hasn't fully opened but my hammer is still fine. Will someone please help me determine what is wrong?

SG: 1.024

PO4: .16
I know that is high I have gfo running now

Ammonia, Nitrate, and Nitrites are all 0

PH: 8.1

IMO and IME Euphyllia corals prefer to be in lower light and lower flow. They can take med light but really need lower flow to allow them to open up all the way. Check out my thread located in the LPS forum its called New Additions. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2540376

Also best sg is 1.025-1.026. Need to also know your Alk/Ca/Mg parameters. I believe you're getting a false 0 on nitrates having the algae you have in your tank and yes your phosphates are way too high.

What salt mix do you use? Need the Big 3 parameters if you don't have test kits you need to invest in them.

Can you take a full tank picture to post?

As you can see there is a good bit of algae but all of that was caused by phosphates. About a month ago my phosphates were sadly .35... I then sucked it up and got a reactor and put gfo in it. It looks much better than what it did.

As you can see the rock on the left was completely covered in hair algae. I'm using IO reef crystals and Rodi water.

I think I just found out my problem[emoji27]
Brown jelly is coming out of the left head

at least that's what I think it is...

Brown jelly kills them quickly. You will need to go to the pharmacy and get some iodine if you don't have any and follow the dipping process in this link.

Good luck and let us know how you make out. I've lost a few to BJ, the worst was a large Duncan colony well over 20 heads.

Didn't open up for a few days after dip but in the end opened up pretty well. Although, still not as open when I first got it.

The dip will help but if you see brown jelly on that head again I would suggest getting rid of that head so you save the other. I had to do that once thead man expensive torch, but it saved the coral and I haven't seen any brown jelly. Also changed the carbon in my tank when I did that also.

Same. I had to cut a few head to save the whole colony. Most of my euphylias are in really bad shape when I bought them but they slowly recovered and are doing well. My hammers never get any brown jelly even though one of them had a punctured portion. Just did some iodine dip and it healed on its own. I feed them crushed fish food so they will heal much faster. As of now everyone is doing fine. Euphyllias are very hardy and fast growing given the ideal conditions.
