Torches flaking off

I was at LFS yesterday and they has some nice looking torches frags. I asked if he could turn them a bit to see how many heads were on them. He picks one up and turns it upside down and swishes it a bit and small pieces of flesh fell of. Although they didn't look any worse after and you couldn't see any damage I passed. I have never seen this on any of mine. Are these sick or what.

I've never had a torch do this, but when I had a frogspawn & a hammer, sometimes when I would use a powerhead to stir up the detritus from the rocks, small bits of tissue would come off these two corals. Some people think that these will develop into new corals, but I'm a little skeptical.
If you happen to go back to the LFS today and the coral looks good, you might want to take a chance on it. GL.
