Hi everyone,

I just received and acc my newly acquired blue tortuosa... Did 1hr acc process and it's in my tank. The thing is there's a small 1/4 of and inch crab between the corals branches hiding... I saw a vid of an emerald crab eating some sps polips so now I'm getting worried hehe
Does anyone know what should I do? If so hooked I remove it? And how?
I'll take some pics later when I have my laptop

Thanks!

 thanks I think it is because I emailed the seller and they said is was a symbiotic crab that cane with the acro from it's origin and it's harmless so they left the guy

The crab also help to keep "bad guys" off the Acropora. It eats food that drifts by. I love these little crabs. To bad I lost my only one a couple of months ago.

Don't know. It just disappeared. But I had the coral it was on in my QT for a while, and I don't think it got any food while it was there. Didn't see the crab before I introduced the coral to the display tank. And one day it was just gone. I love the Acro crabs. Love the "smooth" look. Much nicer than the hairy crabs I've found in me LR:crazy1:

As much as I hate to say it, the dip should have been strong enough to kill it or at least make it jump off so you could get it out.

You did dip it right?:uhoh2:

A picture would be great. There are crabs that come in on maricultured or wild corals that are actually harmful. If the crab is hairy or fuzzy with blue eyes, I would get rid of it.

The crab is not hairy of fuzzy at all it has a clean sharp look. And no I didn't dip it, not a great fan of it unless it needs it as treatment.. I'll post a pic tomorrow when lights are up! If it's and acro crab the wahoooo! Hehe :)

Every new acro need a dip. I don't want to scare you but you are on the fast track to loosing all your sps with an attitude like that. I fear in your case you are probably already to late.

This will eventually become crystal clear to you I promise.

I agree but what is the point of dipping if you don't qt? Any eggs will live through a dip and will hatch in your system. I am a bigger fan of not dipping new arrivals and letting them sit in the qt tank for a couple of weeks.

Ok But eggs ARE visible so you can remove with a knife or even cut out the base. The problem is that if a frag have adult or recent born AEFW, you are in serious, maybe irreversible trouble.

I wanted to continue my point to full on qt as being the only real option, but with the OP's stance I really didn't feel like giving the guy a lecture.

It's a lesson some people have to learn the hard way I guess.

Sorry to hear such negativity, I understand it should have been dipped but it doesn't mean all my SPS are going to die. The piece came from a good seller and had been in QT with them for 10 days... so far it looks good.
I wasn't able to take any pics since I've been in school and work all day but ill do it tomorrow to get some feedback...

I am really not trying to rag on you man. I promise. Pest prevention is one of the basic fundamentals of keeping sps. If you continue to choose not, to at the very least dip your new arrivals then I am afraid that you will very likely end up loosing all your sps to pests eventually.

Take it from me , it's much worse once you've watched that little frag(or frags) grow into a colony for a couple years.

Just trying to help man. Ask anyone dealing with FW's if they wish someone would have hit home a little harder the importance of proper qt regimens.

I learned this the hard way long ago. One pest at a time, till I finally got it.

Here are a couple of pics of the Acro... its been 6 days since it was introduced to the tank... Feedback is greatly appreciated!
