I finally got around to tossing the hood on my 12g AP, and replacing it with a 70w HQI SunPod. This also allowed me to finally get a real HOB skimmer, and it has already made a world of difference! My question is....has anyone replaced the 70w with the 150w bulb? The 75w just doesn't seem to be enough for my tank.

The ballast in the 70w Sunpod will not fire a 150w bulb; the higher watt bulb requires a higher watt ballast. On the AP12, I think the 70 is more than sufficient, IMHO.
Just curious, what skimmer did you get? I just recently did the same thing with the Sunpod and am considering a skimmer now that that options open

I got the newest model Seaclone Model 100. They really made some drastic improvements to this skimmer. I literally took it out of the box, snapped the MaxiJet 1200 onto the intake, put the MJ in chamber 2 hung the skimmer on the back of the tank, which put the overflow in perfect position to flow right into chamber 3. No messing with water levels...just adjust the air valve, and watch this skimer pull all sorts of nasty a couple of hours later.
