Well i got the chance of a lifetime to buy 2 large tanks for cheap.
Both around 225 Gallons.

I have started to turn the 60x30x30 into a salt water tank.

I thought i might log my progress in a thread here.

Here is the tank 6 days in. Just live sand, live rock and a couple of shells at the moment.

Have to get more live rock soon, could not carry any more home with me from the store the day i got this stuff.

Is this going to be reef, fish only, or ???
Also, include some details about sump, filtration, lighting, etc. Everyone always wants to know those things.

P.S. Looks good so far.

Right now its going to be FOWLR... till i get some more experience and knowledge.... then i will progress to Mixed reef.

Right now it's running a canister filter with UV Sterilizer for filtration.
I am shopping for Sump & Skimmer on the weekend.

Lights are also being replaced or added to on the weekend depending on the answers i get in some other threads.

This is very much a work in progress...

So we had a problem with heat... the tank was 86... then i added a 1200 GPH pod pump for some quick and easy super flow... raised the temp of my tank to 90.

Thanks to some advise on fans in another thread... i rigged this up for a temp solution... lowered my temp to 82

though i would post it coz its a funny part of our progress.

Now i can not edit it... anyway i have now gotten ACDsee to resize my pics before i put them up on photobucket.

No refugium is planned at this time.
We will be adding a DSB in a bucket to the system soon.

For us for a LFS normally we go to the weekend markets here in Bangkok where 10,000 vendors sell anything from Blacktip Reef Sharks to Shirts and Shoes. We can buy from 300+ vendors all in one spot... but it's HOT and crowded (between 100,000 - 300,000 people pass through Chatujuk Markets on a Saturday+Sunday alone) and its a little far from our house.

So we were driving to the beach to get some live sand on the weekend and we spot next to another huge markets normally reserved for buying fruit and vegetables and meat (can buy fish buy its normally dead and ready to cook) a shop that looks like a salt water aquarium store... and we went back yesterday and IT IS! open till 11pm at night too!!

So i ask him... you got any live rock. He produces live rock of the highest quality... just dripping with life and colors of Red/Purple/Green/Yellow/Blue/White/Orange in places. What we got looks like a mix of Fiji and Tonga live rock... the best i have seen in the country for sale.... and of course it comes from Thailand. We cleaned him out.

Here is what the tank looks like now.
