Total System Levasole Planaria Kill Recipe

Stopped in my local TSC and was told they had to pull Levasole from the shelf. She wasn't sure why they had to.

But, I would have to fall in line with DNA on this that you may have "WINGED IT" and not exactly followed things according Hoyle. (A little astro-physics reference for the true geeks out there) Something doesn't add up.
Either you didn't clear them best can when they were visible before you dosed or when they were appearing everywhere you didn't start sucking them out via an UP TO 50% water change if needed.
Tough break on the fish, I do hope more do not perish.

I agree, I definitely underestimated the volume of flatworms in my tank and therefor was not prepared for the aftermath. I've been both mad and sad over this. I hate killing fish and am so mad at myself for not being better prepared.
Things seem to be doing better today. I did another water change, replaced the carbon and cleaned the skimmer to get it working at maximum efficiency.
So far, there have been no additional losses. However the fish are not eating as they normally would. In addition, I've been siphoning out dead bristle worms and bristle stars to avoid additional issues.
I'm hopeful that all of the flatworms are gone. Time will tell.

Watching this thread with great interest while I wait for my levamisole HCl to arrive. My 120 has been plauged with flatworms since I set it up with contaminated live rock.
Just a comment on something I read while trying to locate a source. Supposedly levamisole is light sensitive and should be stored in opaque bottles in the dark. I'm wondering if some people are having reduced effectiveness on subsequent treatments because their mixed solutions are being exposed to light?

I just finished reading this entire thread. Very informative. I also called Big R farm supply and they carry Levasole for pig, in the bottle of powder form, and Levasole for sheep, which is a tablet form. They're currently out of the Pig stuff but will have more next week.
I have a 29 gallon frag tank with some planaria and a 75 gallon mixed reef that doesn't have any visible planaria, though it has in the past. I do plan to treat both tanks, JUST TO BE SAFE...lol. The 75 does have 3 clams and a Purple Sebae anemone.
Does anyone see any problems with doing a "precautionary" treatment in the 75, even with no visible planaria?

I would say if you've seen them in there before, but you don't see them now, that would be the best time to treat with levasole. That way you get them when their population is low, and have less chance of them polluting the tank when they die. I did the levasole treatment on my system a couple weeks ago. One dose, all gone, no ill effects. My serpent stars acted weird for about 24 hours, but everything survived treatment and is doing better than ever now.

Oh I forgot a question I had. When using the recipe and dosage, as listed in the very first post, do I mix the powder with saltwater or RO/DI water?

In the EXPERIMENT portion after LONG STORY of the VERY FIRST POST it is very clearly stated 240ML of RO/DI water.
Based upon your RO/DI water question and the clams in 75 question I can only recommend the following.
Please use a non-skimmed detailed re-read of MY VERY FIRST POST to prevent a varied or disasterous result before you attempt this treatment method.
I know it's long. And I apologize and know that I suffer from compound complex sentence structure to the 10th power. But you will get the information clearly if you read thoroughly.
Some folks find that cutting and pasting into word file, printing and reading with a highlighter like college research can help.

I have read the instructions and re-read the replies to avoid asking duplicate questions but as a carpenter says, measure twice, cut once. I just want to be sure I understand this statement "Dose 1ml. or 1.5 ml of the LEVASOLE you mixed per gallon of total system POSSIBLE volume."
Possible as in 75gal DT + 30 gal sump + 15 gal fuge = 130 gals or is it displaced total gallons?
Sorry in advance if this is a repeat question. I have water ready and want to be sure before I go through with it.

LOL I did read, very carefully, the entire thread. THEN, I went back to the beginning and in the first paragraph, read "water." Shoulda read a couple more paragraphs where it reads "ro/di water." Thank you!!

Dosed 150ml for 130 gal system at 4:30. So far so good. Snails stayed attached, corals stayed extended, fish active, bristle worms and starfish doing death dance. FW's are totaled. I found netting them in the column far more effective than siphoning. Side note, the FW's just melt in the net. I will keep everyone posted.

Even the place I ordered the boulus from is no longer offering those. It's myred as to who or why. Rumor has been FDA to EPA is the culprit. See other posts within this thread.
I'm wondering what's up. I have not had time to contact the firm in New Jersey that imports the Irish stuff nor the 3 companies in MO. that also manufature it. Was considering checking with them directly. Keep looking, in the meantime sometime next week I'm going to be on the hunt with the sources of it rather than the retail middlemen. It also may be an issue where it's simply being made hard to get unless you have a legit vet prescribed script to obtain it.

Over here in Washington state, Big R carries it....HOWEVER, they've been "out" of it for quite some time. They tell me it's because they reduce their stock this time of year, due to having to inventory the store. I also figure it's not really "Pig De-worming" season. We'll see if they actually get it back in stock. They do have the sheep version, that's in tablet form. I've heard it won't work because of "stabilizers" that are added to the tablet form.
