Levamisole from http://www.inkmkr.com/Fish/ItemsForSale.html

Well I'm glad I got wind of this thread and a couple of weeks ago I bought my Levamisole from http://www.inkmkr.com/Fish/ItemsForSale.html
Prices are very reasonable and I purchased a bulk amount that will be a lifetime supply for me.

I did my first application by
a) mixing 5 grams with 500 ml of RODI water.
b) siphoned out as much of the flatworms that I could see first.
c) shut off my sump return pump ( i didn't have any flatworms in my sump with inline skimmer and filter bags)
d) poured in 250 ml into a 165 gallon tank (1.5 ml of medication per gallon of tank water)
e) I turned on a canister of carbon in a phosphate reactor
f) within about 2-3 minutes the flatworms are hanging by a thread to the substrate. With the powerheads on, they released the thread about a minute later and start floating.
g) I put a Mag12 into the tank with a hose on the output. The I placed the other end of the hose into a filter bag on the side of the tank and turned on the the mag 12. Basically the Mag12 sucked out 90% of the floating flatworms into the filterbag and the water returns into the tank without the worms. This process doesn't stop the toxins but takes out the flatworms.

Best of all, no fish casualties! Its only day 5 after the treatment. I plan to add multiple supplemental doses at the same rate of 1.5 ml/gallon on day 10, day 20 and day 30.

I've not researched this new source. But the bottomline will be what is the concentration of the product? The listed active and in active content percentages per gram/container will give you an idea. With some diligence you can calculate it to a decent accuracy. The original stuff had this data. I've not compared them yet...but that's what you want to check in order to duplicate the original recipe and keep things from getting overdosed.

If this is not calculated then it goes back to just winging it. Which was one of the main reasons I did this trial to begin with.

So if I was going to order one of those should I order the 5gram packets or the marine use levamisole? Im hoping the packaging will list the make up of these products

Hi Guys,
The Levamisole I have is the pure stuff. It is not diluted. Use it as pure.
Chin_Lee has tested the material. Ask him how things went. Don't expect it to be diluted. It will be too strong if you guess 90 or 80% compound.

Did my first treatment last saturday 4/18 worked great no losses besides a few bristle worms. Clams, SPS, LPS, zoas, fish all fine!

Used inkmakers 21g packet at 1/2t to 240ml and dosed at 1.25ml/gal

will be following up for the next 3 weeks as well to rid the system.

I told you guys a few posts ago these flatworms got resilient to Levasole. I got hold of Flatworm Exit and that has also lost it's efficency leading to the conclusion that the same active ingredient is in both producs.

I'm going on 10 flatworm free days.
Got the 21 gram marine pack, mixed a 1/2 teaspoon in a cup of water, and poured the whole cup in. Waited about 20 minutes than started to siphon out the dead ones for almost 2 hours. After I got all I can see I thru in some Carbon and ran it all night.
I haven't found one yet.
Total water volume 200g
Kept powerheads on the whole time but turned off sump during the first 20 minutes
Doing second dose tonight just as a back-up

I have been following the treatment information on here for some time and really don't yet know exactly what the dosage is. I do know that if the dosage isn't high enough and the duration isn't long enough, one will wind up with drug resistant worms. This is a really bad situation especially when the hobby passes around rock, coral and other parts of the reef community and carries the little creatures from one location to another. So, with this thought, I am asking a couple of questions:
Statement:
0.5 Teaspoon = 0.0833 ounce volume, assuming the Levamisole has a density of 1 then 0.0833 ounce = 2.36 grams, so one would have about 9 - 1/2 teaspoons in a 21 grams.

Question:
So is this 2.36 grams (maybe 2.5 grams) the required and successful treatment for 200 gallons? If that is so, then a 5 gram package would be enough to treat 200 gallons twice. One would only need to dissolve the 5 grams into 2 cups of water and then 1 cup would be enough for one treatment and you would still have enough to retreat later if necessary. The Levamisole solution should be good in a tightly closed glass container in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 weeks.

That info sounds correct. I'm no scientist but from what I put in my tank it worked well. I have tons left over. I should have bought the 5 gram but I wasn't sure what I needed.

Seriously guys, I just have the compound I have it for the Fresh water treatment of Nematodes. For Reef waters, I am following your instructions. It would appear that 21 grams will treat 1600 gallons twice, maybe even more. Don't throw money at it. Read the posts and think about the amount of water your sump and tank(s) contains.

It appears that 2.36 grams (maybe 2.5 grams) is the required and successful treatment for 200 gallons. So, then a 5 gram package would be enough to treat 200 gallons twice. One would only need to dissolve the 5 grams into 2 cups of water and then 1 cup would be enough for one treatment(of 200 gallons) and you would still have enough to retreat later if necessary. The Levamisole solution should be good in a tightly closed glass container in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 weeks.
