Totally done with eels!!

There is an LFS that said they would take him and put him on consignment, I just haven't gotten up the courage to try to catch him yet. Plus, they were going to put him with a tessalata, and some other nice smaller eels, and I figured he'd make them dinner...
I wanted to try selling him first, and if he's not sold in a week or so, I will just take him down there, and recommend that they don't put him in with any smaller eels.

I think that that's the worst eel you could possibly have. I had one of these (Gymnotorax undulatus) some years back. Bought it when he was appr. 10cm long. Within a year he was 60 cm and he eat all his tank mates (except one big Koran angel and one big picasso trigger). Finally I gave him away to a public aquarium. It is by far the most aggressive (and hungry) fish I have ever had. A killer!

Didn't you already sell this thing. I remember reading a post of a shark in a 90 someone just bought.

This shark and eel have got to go ASAP. I'm getting my MH's and lots of other stuff to start the reef conversion this weekend. If anyone is even remotely interested please see my thread in the selling/trading livestock forum and/or PM me.

These eels are about as aggressive as they get. I have had many friends get bit by these and they will leave a lasting impression.
These eels should not be available at your local fish store.

That is horrible!! Is that your hand or your friend's hand? I am trying to catch mine out of this 90 gallon tank right now, and I am pretty scared. I'm wearing gloves, and I have a big net, but he's not going for the bait at all. Nearly blind or not, he can tell a trap from a regular meal...

I took him to my LFS today to be on consignment, everything went well and he seems happy in his temporary new home.

This is how they are sold by fish stores that do not know what they are selling. This is clearly not a Chainlink eel.

Wow, Sicklid, that is crazy. I would feel so bad for the beginner that they say this eel is suitable for, buying one of these to go in a 100 gallon reef tank, which they say is do-able, under the impression that it is semi-agressive!!

I actually did have a choice between two fish stores, and I chose the one I did mainly because I feel like they will not sell it to anyone without full disclosure of exactly how agressive this eel is, and how much responsibility it is to keep one like this. They don't get as much traffic as the other one, and it may take a lot longer for them to sell him, but I know the other one would probably send him home with just about anyone that wanted to buy him, and I couldn't stand the thought of being responsible for raising the odds of him doing that to some poor college kid...(referring to the pic above)
