So I am thinking of 40g long with 2t5s for lighting and no sump just a HoB skimmer like a cpr back pack or the deltec. Anyone have any experince with this type of set up?
( i bet the boards blood pressure just went up)

You know what they say Konrad....... They ALL come back sooner or later! :D

Not even close... just enjoy the company of a good club with tremendous members.

I'm not back yet I never want to deal with a large tank again , just wondering if anyone ever had good luck with a simple system like that?
The dog is alive..... dex

I had a 50 gal reef(36x18x18) with a CPR bak bak, great tank easy to maintain yet not to small.Did the whole thing withNSW.

I like my 40, but it was an upgrade from a 29 just so I could have a sump. It was worth every penny to have a sump to hide the junk, etc. Otherwise, it's a nice sized tank, IMO.

K,
Ray has something like that. he should be joining us in a few.
Im glad he is behaving & you scratched plan "B"

where the heck if Bill (queer eye for the reef guy) anyway?

I knew you be back!...........it will work....light bio-load, water changes, maybe a phos reactor..etc...

I'm married and have a teenage daughter, so the blood pressure is always high any ways :D

Simple set ups can work very well, just keep up with the water changes ;)

lightly stocked....ha. i have 12 little fish in my forty. just do a 5 gallon water change once a week or every other and everything is fine and growing.

someone was selling rock k and a forty breeder on here i just saw it.

Hey Conrad, glad to hear you are coming back to the hobby, I have a similar setup at my office, is a 40 breder with PCs and HOB skimmer and powerfilter. i can post some pics later when i get home, i do a biweekly water change of about 5 gallons.

pics would be great Julio, btw where did you put the heater? I'm thinking of hiding it hehind the liverock.
