Trace amounts of copper.

Wouldn't trace amounts of copper from copper medicine treaments potentially get into the main tank when the fish is coated? Also wuldn't there be copper on the net/cup or whatever else you dip into the QT?

Not sure I fully understand your question.

While many inverts are sensitive to copper the potential copper contamination associated with using nets etc that have been used in QT tanks that have used copper based meds is too small to have any impact on a show tank. Copper exists naturally in seawater in quantities too small to harm anything.

In general you don't want to share equipment between QT's and ST's .. primarily because of the risk of cross contamination of disease.

I agree that the amount of copper in question is likely far too small to be of interest, and that cross-contamination is a big issue.
