Trachyfillia question

My trachyfillia looks pretty healthy but I noticed at night it puffs up a lot more compared to when lights are on. It's sitting on my substrate in full light. Should I move it to a more shaded area? I have Cree LEDs 2:1 cool white/royal blue. Thnks

Many corals, including Trachyphyllia, "puff up" a lot more at night and usually extend tentacles in order to catch food. If you notice it losing color, then its placement in the tank will need to be adjusted. It could be in too much light and somewhat affect "puffiness", but color is a better indicator.

yeah i would think that it is feeding. That said i have kept them literally shaded for long periods of time before and the coloring only got more intense the longer they were shaded. i would highly recommend trying it. I believe they get far too much light in most home aquariums.

If its inflating, I'd leave it alone. I only worry if an LPS does not inflate, which I have happened with Lobos before.
