Trade Journals?

Didn't know where to put this, but figured this section might contain more LFS owners / propagation owners / etc

Just wondering what trade journals/magazines you guys subscribe to. Or know any beneficial ones?

Pet Age is one of the more common trade journals. There really aren't any aimed just at fish stores, so you have to sort through mostly dog and cat stuff that are the largest part of the overall pet market.

Pet Age is really the only one I get anymore and there's very little of use in it for fish/corals. Advertisers and distributors make decent contacts though. Plus my wife loves looking at the new cat toys.

If you can, one of the trade shows is a fun event. Backer's is the big one, but there is pretty much one in every region. Still very little for fish/coral in them, the aquatics trade isn't big business.

Pet AGE

those are pretty much the only game in town, but they lack hardcore in the aquatics area. Aquatics has fallen off at Backer over the last 5 years. The regional open houses have really made doing shows like that a thing of the past.

Hmmm I looked over both Pet Age and Pet Product News online and it looks like they offer practically nothing in the way of aquatics. Would you consider these even worth my time? (Assuming I have no other pets of course)

What are you looking to get out of them? If you want to find listings of various wholesalers, are general pet industry gossip and some general marketing, either of those two are alright. If your looking for anything serious about husbandry of aquatic stuff, don't bother.

ehh wholesalers would be the only thing of real interest to me. I'm sure the other knowledge may be helpful in some concepts, but I honestly won't take the time to read through all the non-pertinent stuff.
