First, is it possible? I bought my tank and sump used, and hate the layout of the sump. I know it seems hard, but is it possible for me to unplumb my current setup, then plumb in my new sump? Please help!
I'd you have done it or know how to, please don't be shy!
Thanks in advance!

Why not? Make sure you have some in tank water circulation and an in-tank heater, then drain down your tank tu just below the overflow that goes to the sump. Your tank wil be fine for a couple days like that. then just remove any water left in the sump, any equipment, and disconnect any eternal return pumps and the overflow line(s) into the sump. Remove the old sump, install the new one, and reconnect everything. Not a hard thing to do.

You could also do a large water change before you do the sump switch so your water doesn't spike organics while you are switching, but even that is not really necessary.

One caveat, however, is to make sure your new sump will fit into your cabinet, and that your skimmer will fit into the new sump also.
