Transferring large rocks with soft corals on them

I want to move large rocks with soft corals on them to my new larger tank. The tanks are right across the room from each other. I obviously can't float these rocks in Tupperware or bags... Should I create a drip system from my new tank into the current?

Maybe I'm missing something but you are asking how to move rock with attached coral across a room? Just pick it up, put it in a Rubbermaid bin (to avoid drips), carry it over and put in the new tank. Everything will be fine exposed to air for a short time.

I think he's concerned about acclimating corals on the rock. Are you upgrading to a new system? If so, I'd fill the new tank half full of tank water from your old tank and then just stick the rock directly in.

Yes - I have 29 gallon biocube with all my coral rocks that I want to transfer to my new 55 gallon. Both tanks are up and running. I guess I'll just bottle and save all the water I take out of the 55 for future water changes..

Maybe drain off half the 55gal water, save in a trash can or something for your next water change. Put your rock in buckets filled with water from the established tank, and dump all remaining water from the 29 into the 55. That should make conditions close enough for rock and softies.

If it were me, I'd just put the rock straight in without even worrying about it. I only baby the stuff that I think really needs it. haha

As long as the parameters of both tanks are not miles apart you should be ok.

Just don't let it dry out: as long as it's sopping wet, even sponge can make the transfer ok.
