I go all at once. I have some of the aqua forest and some IO. Sometimes I di IO and sometimes I do AF

WC are always somewhat disruptive to the ecosystem but IMO they are well well worth the disruption.

Agree, just use the new salt. Also, a 10% - 20% water change is only changing that amount, so the difference between your current parameters and the new water could be even less of a change. When mixing two different salts you run the risk of precipitation, depending on the concentration of both salts.

Thanks all. since I only have a RSR170, I'm switching to TMP from IO since I don't have a whole lot of water to change anymore.
We'll see if it's worth the change.

I think you'll notice more stability between water changes with TMP, especially in smaller, nano sized tanks. When I set up my 25 lagoon (nuvo black version), I'll continue using TMP and use All for Reef as my 2 part / elements dosing. I think All for Reef is one of the best things to come along for nano/smaller reef tanks. I would imagine you could reduce water changes or simply do corrective water changes we needed?
Btw, you'll love how fast TMP mixes and how stable each batch is when you mix it. Pro tip, don't put all the salt in at once, mix in half of what you need, then slowly add the rest over the course of a couple hours. I find this method preserves alk, which should be in the high 7's. I have soda ash on hand in case I need to bump up alk to my preferred level (around 8dkh) when I make a new batch.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind when I mix up the salt. I still have like 1/2 a bucket of IO so it might be a couple of month. lol. I love 5g w/c's now.

I know what you mean. I kinda miss my 22g, 4g water changes every Sunday, 2 part with the occasional amino acids made that tank thrive.

I just count, one two three and pour it in. Sometimes I give it 10 mins after using an acrylic stir stick... But sometimes I'm in a rush and pour the cloudy salt water 5 mins after stirring. The tank looks cloudy, but the sps love it. We switch between coral life, reef crystals and instant ocean. We base it on, free bucket? Free t-shirt? 10 bucks off? One time, we bought old salt and got bags of solid salt ... Jamie was fustrated because she had to use a screwdriver to break it up
