Translucent spot on squamosa

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 4" squamosa clam from a local lfs. Seeing as it is my first clam, when I bought the clam it was pretty brown and dull looking.

Since then it's color has begun to brighten and it is opening fully. However I am noticing a translucent spot on the mantle. I thought maybe this was from a bubble so I've "burped" (retated it 360 and had it "squirt" underwater).
No change, and that was a week ago.

Any ideas???

any chance of getting a picture?

could be an old physical injury, or maybe just an anomaly in the mantle?

Lights off for the night so it's all closed up. I'll grab one tomorrow.

Thanks for the response!

as long as it isn't getting larger or drastically changing color i probably wouldn't worry too much about it.

my crocea has gone through a few color changes in the time since i've had it, and in some spots on the mantle has occasionally looked slightly blotchy.

keep an eye on it, if you're using LED lights, make sure he isn't getting hot spotted or anything like that.
