Hey guys, Thursday I will be picking up this setup from mjntwise ( thanks it will be a nice upgrade from my 40b lol ) What would be the best way to transport it he lives about 2 hours away. I have a suv but it's way to small.

Thanks

Jason

Uhaul, You can rent either a 8' pick up or a 10' moving truck for about $20.00 per day plus .69 per mile.

I would go with either Uhaul or Home Depot. With such a long drive it's going to cost you either way, sounds like Uhaul is cheaper. I believe Home Depot is $15 for first hour or 75 minutes and $10 every hour after. Not sure on their gas charge.. The Home Depot trucks aren't all that big either.

A Ranger should be fine. Its only a 5' tank. you might have to stack the stand on the tank and strap it down but it should fit pretty easy.

You could also consider a moving company if help is needed to load it / unload it. Rocks moving wouldn't touch a glass tank - but I just hired two guys and a truck to come out to unload the tank for me.

I have help about the Ranger it's not very wide so I'm not sure If it can accommodate the stand and tank next to each other. Depends on the width of both but maybe up on the rails of the bed

bring blankets and duck tape / masking tape to secure the blankets around the tank,

this will help to prevent scratches / breaking of the glass

cheapest and best option IMO, rent uhaul trailer at your location, drag it there and bring back. That is if you have a trailer hitch!

I do have a hitch and that was my first thought but was concerned about damaging the equipment.

When I bought my 120 (new), i used the 5x8 covered. Moved the stand/tank/hood with no issues at all. I tied down well and was on my merry way :). The 5x8 is a nice covered unit and tows well. I took a piece of 1/2" R-max (Home Depot) foam with me to set the tank on. I then used under my tank when I set it up.
