Transporting a 100 gallon in truck bed

I think I am going to bring my 100 gallon with me Saturday to Memfish to get drilled. I will be putting it in the bed of my truck. Should I buy some bubble wrap and wrap it? Cover with blankets? I've never moved a large tank (I bought it from my neighbor) and do not want to break it. How would you go about it?
 
bubble wrap would be good(lots of it) but also i would use sofa cushions for extra cushion( well at least that's what i did when i moved my uncle's 210 gallon from memphis to jonesboro)

I would cover the tank, all sides, and top, in case a rock is introduced via someones tire ahead of you. My best advice would be to protect you investment and either rent an enclosed U-Haul trailor (If you have a hitch) or borrow someones Van or Tahoe or the like. Figure less than $100 for example to rent a u-haul van (assuming less than 100 mi round trip) vs new tank plus shipping. my $0.02
 
Dont really have the money for a U Haul, I'm thinking about putting 3 layers of bubble wrap on the bottom of the truck bed and then wrapping the tank in two comforters and duct taping them together. Then running pull straps over it to keepit held in place.
 
I threw my new 120 in the back of a mini-van. I didn't even clamp it down. (They're not made out of china guys; it's plate glass.)

Just (carefully) strap it down so it doesn't move. Use teh ratcheting style strap clamps. Just don't crank them down!!! Don't put any un-due stress on it and you'll be fine. I think a piece of carpet beneath and some towels at the tie-down locations will suffice.

Just drive smart and for goodness sake: Avoid Memphis Drivers!!!!
 
Yeah I was hoping that the pull straps would keep it down on the bubble wrap and comforters. I'll be in Southhaven tomorrow for lunch. Looking forward to meeting all of ya'll.
 
dont feel bad iam doing the same thing richard is drilling my 125 witch is coming in the bed of my truck padding and ties and being careful lol
 
I bought mine used from someone about 3 hrs away. I put it in the back of my SUV. It didn't fit, so had to tie down the back door. No wrap, no straps, no blankets, or anything else to protect it. As long as you avoid an accident then you should be fine.
 
Most cities have dealers near the industrial district that sell sheet styrofoam, cheap. And will cut it for you. That and a little tape and you'd ride safely. I discovered the industrial district in OKC as a source of everything from sheet cork to styrofoam, bulk peanuts, sheet steel, and odd-shaped plexi scraps and mismolds.
 
just wrap it up very good in a couple blankets ant put a strap over it dont crank it down but snug, put a old pillow behind it and put a strap across the front so it does not slide when you acelerate or hot the brakes it will be fine , i had my 90 straped to a all steel pull behind trailor 3 years ago the same way , i hit a huge pot hole on walnutgrove near the bridge by houston lev. the trailor hopped pretty hard i thought for sure the tank was a gonner, wolfblade was behind me and was waiting on the shards of glass to be falling out of the trailor, thankfully the tank was completely unharmed. yours is going to be in your pickup , that has a lot better suspention than a trailor. your tank will be fine.

Hey, we received some tempered glass bowls for our wedding from Crate & Barrell. Then one day, while eating dinner, the largest bowl LITERALLY exploded into a Thousand pieces, sending shards of glasss flying all over!!!!!!!!!!! I am NOT kidding!

Apparently, there was a recall on the enire line, due to an error in the Tempering process.

It was pretty cool, but I'm glad a child wasn't around, which he had been just a little while before. We got a nice credit from the store.

It made a sereis of high pitched squeaks, then... POW! All over the counter & floor. (At first we thought thw tuna salad had something to do with it. What did we know?!)
