http://www.smartbodyz.com/Vitamin-C-Buffered(ester)Powder-benefits-deficiency-Dose.htm

alot of the other one's I've seen have sugars in them, that one is just the stuff that buffers and the asorbic acid
Here's what it contains:
Supplement Facts

Serving Size: 1 level teaspoon

Servings Per Container: approximately 114

Amount Per Serving:
Vitamin C (as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc ascorbates) 4000 mg

Calcium 145 mg
Magnesium 55 mg
Zinc 2 mg
Potassium 365 mg

Dosage and Use:
Mix a rounded teaspoon in a glass of water. Wait for fizz to stop before consuming.

Are those ingrediants OK? What causes the fizzing?

What changes are you looking for and what are your symptoms?

Also.. you should be dosing more by now. You should be up to 3250mg now at day 5.... according to:

http://www.athiel.com/lib2/pguide/vitami1.html

Someone correct me if I'm reading all that wrong or if a different set of directions is supposed to be followed.

3250mg sounds alot!

I'm looking for my polyps to open up bigger and also looking for new growths outside the norm. I don't have any "sick" colonies... just ones that are eatten by pods.

I will raise it to 1500mg tomorrow, try that for a few days and report.

Be sure to keep a close eye on pH, if you're not using buffered C.

I measured the PH of 1/4tsp acid in about 2 tablespoons of RO water at 5.24. It dropped my overall PH in my 24 gallon nanocube about 0.02 or so. This may not be entirely accurate as my PH meter can "settle" +/- 0.02 after powering it up. I will leave it powered on next time and see what the PH swing is.

I started adding vit C yesterday when I found this thread. My zoas have not look healthy since I added 5-6 new zoa frags about a month ago.
Have anyone notice if their xenia has shrank from vit C?

Well tomorrow will be a week since I started dosing and some of my sick zoos are opening a little bit but still dont look GOOD.. How long exactly has it taken people for things to start looking better? From what I read, I was figuring 2-3 weeks? Am I right to assume this? I've only been dosing 500mg two times a day on an approximately 30 gallon system.. I didnt want to shock it too much..

So since everyone uses Vitamin C from the stores (human consumption). Has anyone used Kent Marine "Marine-C"? I did read through all of the pages but just wondering...

Jeni-
I am off of it for two weeks starting tomorrow. I will let you know the results, it is just a *** experiment. Did you hear from Faz?

Yippee! Finally, a scientist to prove all this!

I am giving my tank a break from the C too, until I can get the pH back up to 8.3 (bought some buffer today) & then I'd like to get some buffered C to use. Anyone find the cheapest source of this yet?

it was iHerb.com look for sodium ascorbate. they also have a magnesium ascorbate you can use and it will add magnesium as well as vitamin C, i dunno how and if you dose magnesium periodically. i dont recommend using just the magnesium ascorbate, maybe just sometimes to maintain your mag levels.
the sodium ascorbate has worked great for me so far. pH is actualy 8.2-8.25 now in the after noon. it used to be 8.5 because of my calcium reactor.

i did mean to say 227 g not mg and they have some larger bottles that are cheaper per gram.

i don't know what your calcium level is at right now but if you bumped up your calcium chloride dosing a bit to match the sodium ascorbate then you have calcium and vit C for corals and the leftovers sodium chloride just makes salt. with regular water changes your salinity will remain constant and maintain ionic balance. kinda like Randy's DIY two part.
