tricinctus?

Whoops, now I am mixing this thread up even more :>O

Shu Tin, I was not referring to your specimens. I was hoping to use this thread to capture some of the ID points in relation to the first pictures posted on this thread.

I wanted to suggest, "Why is the 2 stripe clown on this thread not a bicinctus?"

fwiw: Your clown does not look like a bicinctus to me, but it does look like it is reacting to your haddoni by darkening up. Lets start a new thread just for you clown :>)

I am sorry, yes, I should do a new thread.

I was reading that these clowns tend to come with brookynella. How can you tell if this is a problem? Both of my pairs are eating well and acting healthy.

Chrysopterus have a terrible shipping reputation, unfortunately the stats seem to support the reputation.

That is the reason I asked if you bought them, it would be wise to have copper on hand for Amyloo and Formalin on hand for Brook. Both are possible, if not likely.

May they not cause you any trouble at all, settle in and be happy.

fwiw: If they get by the first few days, stay vigilant until 21 days in. Had a pair breakdown pretty badly around day 10 :>(

yes traveler7 your thread mix-up was apparent and i don't think flamehawk's clowns are bicinctus because of the third stripe at the base of the c. fin. they don't even resemble tricinctus which is why i ignored the thread until shu tin made it interesting.

i still think shu has a bicinctus. large breeding adults can develop a forked c. fin. although the fin is slightly "clamped down" it doesn't appear to have the curvature of the V shape as a. latifasciatus or a. omanensis. i could be wrong about that which could be it's telling trait.
a. latifasciatus generally have a wider mid-body bar than bicinctus. this fish has a narrow mid bar more like what's seen on chrysopterus and some adult bicinctus. actually after seeing the pic of jordans yellow tailed chrysopterus, i'd think that could be probable too.
at any rate with lack of more photos and other info i've narrowed it down to three for you guys to ponder.
