Hi there, I need some help please. I heard that if a clam is exposed to air, similar to a sponge, it can cause death. Can anyone out there confirm this please.

Thanks

Clams can be exposed to air, You will need to rock it back and fourth to release air bubbles that may be trapped inside.

No, thats not true but air can cause problems if it gets trapped inside. If your clam is exposed to air gently rock it back and forth once its in the water to "burp" it.

Wow that was fast, thanks everyone.
My friend just bought a clam and within 2 days it was dead. Her water perams are good, and she put it on a rock first, then it fell and it ended up in the sand, so she propped it up, came back the next day and it was dead. She is using 175w metal halides, about 28" off of the bottom.
Any ideas?

She has some hermit's blue and red leg.
Sally lightfoot crab
2 cleaner shrimp
1 fire shrimp.
Clowns
Blue powder tang
and a type of goby.
