Tridacnid spawn, how long does it last?

I brought home 2 new clams last night.

Anyhow, one of them, about a 8"-9" squamosa, is spawning today. It's been at it for like 4 hours and it's still squeezing white stuff into the water column.

My tank looks like .. well .. skim milk or something (I've been through anemone spawns before, looks similar).

How long can I expect this to go on?

I was kind of hoping not to do a water change but I guess I know what I'm doing later... might as well wait for it to stop though ... :twitch:

considering its a new clam, i would say it spawning from stress, how did you acclimate it?

get your skimmer running top notch, do a bunch of water tests, add fresh carbon and do that water change and be ready to do more

Oh, undoubtedly it's spawning due to the change of conditions.

Seemed to stop after a few hours, water cleared up eventually. Still doing that water change later tonight of course.
