I have a 150g 6'x2'x20" tank now. I have been thinking I could go bigger. I'm planning a anemone an shroom tank. Fish will be a imperator angel, a pair of blue jaw trigger, trio of lyretail anthias, trio of dispar anthias and a purple tang. Should I stop ....... around with the 150g and just get a 240g? Would the 150g be ok for a year or two?

i would just go the 240g, provide a bigger home and it would be alot cheaper than getting a 150 then upgrading in a year

If you can afford the 240 than you might as well get it. why spend the cash on a 150 if you just plan on upgradeing to a 240 in a year or two.

I have the 150g now, I'm buffing it to get it ready. I have a chance to get a good deal on a 240g. It's not with it's problems and isn't as good of a deal as the 150g was. I can even get a 600g tank for 1200. 10x2'x4'tall. I was thinking I could cut it in half, put new brace on one and new bottom and brace for the other and have 2 10'x2'x2' tanks. The acrylic is 1 inch thick. The biggest problem is justifying it with the wife. Who already thinks I spend too much money on this hobby.

Depends on the size of the individuals, water quality during the time they are in the tank, diet/nutrion, etc. You could, but it makes more sense to use the 150 as a QT or staging ground until the bigger tank is ready and spend your time/resources/money on the one tank that will solve all your needs.
