Trigger and two tangs in 120?

I'm learning the hardest part about this hobby is self control on what you want to have vs. what is wise to have.

I'm narrowing down what types of species I will eventually like to have in my 120 gallon mixed reef. I would expect to add these gradually over time, and would like some help with suggestions on another medium fish that may go well with those that I am planning to get.

I know to introduce it last, but the main fish I really want to have is either a blue throat or red tail trigger and feel confident he'll do fine in a 120. We'd like to also have two ocellaris clowns, a watchman goby, and perhaps a wrasse species, but maybe a few anthias instead. So far everyone I've asked thinks that's not a bad mix for a 120.

Here's where I need help: I'd like to add another medium fish to the mix and have been looking at the white bristle tooth tang. I've also been told a purple tang would be a good choice. What about...both? Or am I pushing it at that point with two tangs and a trigger? If I eliminated some of my other choices to make room would it work?

I would not introduce a trigger in that size tank. It needs to be at least a 6ft 125 or bigger. Also if you decide on the Purple, I would make that the only tang going in the tank. If you do the Whitetail tang and might could do a mimic tang along with it.

I've had purples and yellows together and they do really well. Right now I have three yellows in a 180 and they love it. I've had two in a 90 without issue as well. Depending on the trigger, you'd want to get one that's on the smaller side. Like a sargassum or maybe a blue throat. I prefer the sargassum as they don't seem as easy to stress as the blue throats which in my experience spend most of their time hiding.

Welcome to reef central Sierra Bravo.

I would also recommend not adding the purple in as I've seen many people who add purple tangs to 90-120 gallon tanks and the purple becomes an extremely aggressive tankmate.
I like the idea of a tomini and a mimic in a 120.

Good luck!
