Will I be able to keep a trigger in a 90 gallon SPS reef with several clams? I have minimal rock work and lots of open swimming area. If possible any suggestions on a trigger?

People have mixed success with keeping triggers in reef aquariums. Most of them are coral/invertebrate/small fish munchers. One could possibly be compatible with your aquarium, though I would be a bit concerned about the tank size, though. Most reef-safe triggers grow pretty big.

the only trigger i would keep in a 90 is a undulated and they shouldnt be kept with anything alive

I have Odonus niger in a mixed reef with shrimps, hermits, snails... Even a pair on Stenopus tenuoirostris! Will be adding a Clown trigger, but before that I will remove the shrimps

+1 on the Blue Niger Trigger. 3 years in a mixed reef with shrimp, snails, hermits, a scopas tang, 2 clowns, blueheaded wrasse.
I got the fish very young - so that may be why it is a good tank mate.
I feed flakes, pellets, algae and silversides. And I make sure the trigger gets the lion's share - so hunger isn't an issue.

I have kept niger triggers in my reef with clams and had no problems with it bothering anything.
