Trigger or Tang

I love both the blue troat trigger and the Powder Blue Tang but know I should only pick one for my 75 and can't decide which one to get. What do you guys think I should get.

I've got it all planned out and so far since I made the changes today, it looks 20 times better. The only thing which the Trigger is some people say they are pretty nice and peaceful but I'm kinda worried about him in the tank with all the other fish like the chromis, clowns, firefish, and all the smaller fish. Thats why I'm kinda leaning twards the powder blue.

I agree with Dwayne. As for a PBT, 75 is kind of small. Most of what I've read says at least a hundred. Keep him fat and happy and I personally think you'd be ok. Mine got along fine with my tomatos but needed a lot more volume.

The trigger would also need larger then a 75 in the future. The thing my dad keeps on telling me if to just the fish and then if they do start to get too large for the tank then we can worry about that then and upgrade.

Did you get your new lights and pumps yet????

Dave

I was told in the Reef forum to hold off on the pumps until I start to add SPS and my parents are getting me the lights for birthday which is in May. I think I may go with the second tang. Its hard to pass up the pair of triggers that Phishy has in now for only $150 but I guess I could. :D Don't tell anyone I have tangs in a 20 gallon tank.. :D

Well got the 75 cleaned out and no more sand in it. Took about 20 minutes to suck out all the sand with the vac and it kept on getting clogged. Im also ordering a phos reactor to help get my phos down to prevent algae growth. If there's time thurs or Friday then I'll get the starboard then. Its only $24.76 for a 24''x 48'' sheet thats 1/4'' thick. Seems like a good price to me. I thought it was going to be $50+

Well clean as can be and I plan on doing it right this time and keeping it clean. :)

hey I had a blue tang in a 20 for almost 2 years, he did fine, like you said, once they outgrow the tank you just upgrade. in a few years my tang will be my excuse to upgrade to the 120 gallon or larger that I have been wanting forever.

Andrew,

You spend more money in a week than I make in a month. Your parents must be rich! When I was your age, my parents would have cut me off long before I would get to a point you are at. Did anyone ever tell you that "Money doesn't grow on trees?" ;)

Fred

My parents don't pay for much at all for me. I think they have bought me a bag a salt last year and thats it about. I pay for 98% of all my fish, tanks, rocks, equipment, fish food, and ect.

Yup, agreed. When I was in high school, all I could afford was a 29 gallon fish only with crappy flourescent lights with dead rock and gravel. I had to do mega water changes and it was hideously ugly (at least to my standards now)!

I had to have a job to cover the costs!!!!

Andrew - where in the world do you get the money to pay for all that stuff???

I help my dad out and he pays me $10 an hour and my grandparents gave me money every christmas and for the past few years amd I've been saving that up.

Not really. Just adds up over years. :) In the summer I work more and then I have to mow the grass and I get $15 for that since our yard is huge.
