trigger with ich

I have a 4'' pink tail trigger that has ich,I am going to do tank transfer method.Would the trigger be to to big to keep in 5 gallon buckets for treatment.

I think it should be ok if you move it every 2 days. Go easy on the feeding. Might want to cover ammonia buildup by adding amquel or prime and maybe use a seachem ammonia badge. I've done a bunch of 4-5 inch tangs recently in 4g water (in 5g buckets) and no drama. Something maybe to consider is to not bubble too hard and put a piece of pvc for the fish to lean into...a loud cyclone of bubbles in the bucket I imagine would be stressful to the fish.

Right now it is in the dt,a 75 gallon, only been in tank for 3 days now.I will have the 240 ready in a couple of days.If the 5 gallon buckets is ok,I will do the 3 days and on 4th morning move to next bucket until 14 days, then place in a 40 gallon until all clear.

I have a pair of clowns and a wathman goby,They look good.I don't want to treat them together with the trigger. As soon as I am done with the trigger they will be next.If they show signs then I will set up more buckets.

One more question, the airstones that I will be useing might not dry completely before useing again,so what I am thinking is to place them in boiling water for a few minutes between transfers.

Since you have a few days between transfers, I'd play it safe and get some more air stones. When I do TT, I use new airstones for each transfer. Cheap insurance.

I love TT! I do it prophylactically on all new fish. I've had 2 new fish that showed signs of ich. After TT and an extended quarantine, no more ich. Good luck

Trigger went into tt this morning. The 240 is all plumbed up and running.Waiting on salt to arrive. All live rock and corals will stay in the 75 for 16 weeks at 79.5 to 80 before transfer to the 240.

"Signs" don't mean anything. ALL fish need to be treated and the DT left fishless for 10+ weeks. You can't put the trigger back in the DT until the fallow period has passed.

The trigger will go into a 40 breeder after tt.I know all fish need to go through the tt process,I just don't trust the trigger in such a small area with the other fish. The display tank will fishless for 16 weeks.
