triggerfish1976 , would you post some full tank shots , of your tank . Also some equipment shots , if you can ? I know we would all love to see them . Ted
Here are some older shots of the tank. I am in the process of removing my DSB and re-aquascaping the tank so I haven't taken any recent tank shots but i will post some once everything is back to normal.
These are shots from the living looking at the 8' section:
Shots from the foyer as you walk in the front door of the house. This is the side of the tank looking down the long axis. I keep changing the aquascaping in order to try and maximize depth perception:
Lighting: At the time the pic was taken I was only running 3 M/H lights and T-5's on 1/2 of the tank:
Plumbing and external overflow. As you can see plumbing is not my strong suit.
Skimmer: I just recently installed the new Needle wheel dart skimmer. This is by far the most efficient design I have ever used. It kicks the butt out of my old ASM and Euro Reef.
Thanks guys. I am trying to make better use of the space in the tank. As you can see, I stacked a large part of the rock against the back of the tank but I am slowly moving it forward in order to create several small islands.
My original idea was to do two rock piles extending down the length of the tank so that is why I stacked it against the back in order to create a taller pile and then do a shorter pile toward the front but it didn't look that good from the front of the tank since it didn't give any depth perception.
Sweet setup triggerfish1976.
How many wrasses do you have in there? Also, can you list what types please?
Do you, or have you ever had any issues with the multiple wrasses?
Not trying to be the tank police, just curious as I am wanting to add another wrasse or two to my tanks.
Thanks, and again sweet setup.
I had and stress had the following wrasses at one time:
Scott Fairy Wrasse (Terminal male)
Pink Margin Fairy Wrasse (Terminal Male)
Labout's Fairy Wrasse (Sub adult)
Hawaiian Flame Wrasse (Sub adult)
Four Line Wrasse
Mystery Wrasse
Bipartus Leopard Wrasse
My Leopard Wrasse changed from a female into a male and basically started to systematically kill all of the other wrasses. It started with the big Scott's. It harrased it to the point that the Scott's swam into an anemone and got stung to death. It then took out my Mystery wrasse, followed by the Pink Margin and Labout's. I still have the Flame and four line wrasse and the Leopard has shown zero signs of agression toward these fish. I have made numerous attempts to remove the leopard but he is a tricky little bugger. He has really calmed down recently but I still am trying to remove it so I can add more wrasses.
Very nice triggerfish1976! I love the movement you are getting with the Wave Box. The Needle wheel dart skimmer does look impressive and I'll be getting one just like it from John - I've only heard good about them! How many streams do you have for flow?
