Triggers and cleanup crew?

As menttioned it will depend on what type you get. The Niger and Blue Throat are relatively good candidates which I've had for many years without any problems. I have always purchased them when very young and made sure they are well fed. Nothing with these animals is guaranteed however.

If you do have a species that does eat them, keeping a refugium with its own sandbed, rock, cleanup crew, is a very good thing; and a fuge will go a long way toward stabilizing and denitrifying a FOWLR setup. With a really good fuge, you could possibly dodge having to have a particulate filter on the FOWLR.

clown, white tail, niger trigger snowflake eel, porc puffer etc and I have a small cleanup crew... started adding them after 2+ years of feeding frozen and other asst foods, and the cleanup crew is doing well...I only have a couple hermits since my mangroves keep algae out the tank!

What size is your tank? Aside from the fact that most triggers will decimate a huge amount of your beneficial fauna, they typically get too huge for most aquariums. They can develop that caged animal thing where they just "pace" the tank back and forth all day maybe in part because they seem to be more intelligent than most other fish. It's a very sad thing to see.
