I have Mangroves growing in my refugium. They have done quite well and are 2' tall... they are exceeding the height allowed by my lighting. Does anyone have experience in trimming these? techniques? Above/below leaves? Help!!!

You can trim the growth tip, above the leaves, but not any lower. Use very sharp scissors. Remember these guys get REALLY tall in the wild.... so it's only a matter of time. They will get bushy if you trim them, which can be nice.

be careful pruning such small trees can kill them, get a gardening book, or look up pruningtips on t internet

I've never had problems trimming the tips of mangroves. As long as they have established root system and some leaves after pruning, you will be fine. Note that new growth may take months to appear
