Trims/Braces

Would I be able to remove the top and bottom trim of a standard 40 breeder tank and apply eurobracing on the top without any problems? Or would I be better off building my own tank?

It can be done but is a royal PITA to get the trim and all the silicone off in order to bond your new bracing in place. building a glass tank is also not for beginners, more stories of failure than success. Acrylic is doable, especially if you have someone else cut all the pieces so they are nice and square with clean edges.

But you might be better off just buying a tank that was made the way you want it. If you wan't a glass tank (which I prefer for ease of cleaning anyhow) there are lots of places that can build you a rimless 40 breeder. Glass Cages comes to mind, I think they even stock one..........

Neither of the above. Aside from the lack of experience building tanks and non-finished glass edge under the rim, neither idea will result in a tank that is safe and well built.

Oh come on, he could make a bloopers video and give us all a good what not to do video.

Actually I think RC should add a Disaster DIY forum for laughs and instructional use. It would be nice to have all the what not to do's listed in one place!

I would post in there, I have had plenty of fails in my first few years. Actually I still have some mishaps, Like the other day while over my tank trying to move the light with an open bag of food and dumping half the bag of sinking pellets into the tank and scrabbling to fish out what I could. lol
