Trochus + Astrea + Acrylic = Scratches?

I'm about to get a 29g Truvu acrylic tank, but I'm worried that my snails will scratch the tank w/ their shells, because I can hear their shells tapping against my current glass tank every night.
So anybody w/ an acrylic tank ever had a problem w/ snails scratching the tank?

If you're worried about acrylic getting scratched, it will over time and theres so little you can do about it.

Just the normal wear and tear of maintaining a tank will eventually give scratches but at least in acrylic you can usually buff it out.

While I really like trochus as cleaners, unles they get near a corner or take a death defying leap at the side of the tank they should be okay but you never know.

You could try black foot snails (i think some call them margaritas) ceriths and nerites as they are smaller but have more rounded shells and imo don't have the potential to do as much harm.

I think men are just to hard on acrylic ... I have and been only using acrylic tanks and my stuff is not scratched up. I have scratches from the orginal owners or if I moved LR up against it. I clean my tanks wals with a used gift card or credit card.

You can buff out scratches over time also.

Snails will not scratch your tank at all.

It's a blue spot jawfish mastawong. I need to change it now that i have my clownfish ;p boy i need a day where i can take pictures of my tank and not have to work!

haha roxy25 i can almost agree but sometimes i get into cleaning and just know i'd mess up acrylic. If you scrape the inside and accidentally get one little piece of sand on your scraper.. well

Yeah lol When I first scratched my tank I was mad but you can't see them you have to really dig into you acrylic.

Those magnofloats sp? really mess up your tank even tho it says for acrylic ( the acrylic ones)
