Radion, huh? Interesting. I'll have to consider it for my next built. Obviously a bit much of an expense for me at this point. But, worth it to know that it's a fixture to consider in the future.
Ah, now I know why you took that monti out. Yes, once they start getting big they use a LOT of calcium/alkalinity. I used to have one about the same size in a 55g a long, long time ago before it broke apart.
Is there anything you would change about the design of your tank? How is your tank topped off, since there isn't a sump underneath the tank,... do you just manually do it every day or is there some type of automation that I'm just not seeing in the pictures? I'm looking at having a "side sump" or a "back sump" like yours on my next build... I think I like the design better. Is there anything you would change about the chambers? Does detritus build up in the first chamber, since it is unfiltered except by the protein skimmer?
If you wanted to try a different light, I MAY...... MAYBE.... Would have tried the ATI 4x24w T5 light, then retro fitted one strip of royal blue LEDs to the design for looks... The colors of corals are just so different and true. I do enjoy the LEDs in regards to temperature, no bulb change, and control, but the ATI now has similar control. The color and natural UV (not the color UV of LEDs) cannot be matched.
If I could change things it would be size... As cool as an All In One is, it can only sustain so much, you are very limited. I chose a 25" long and 15" deep because of the size my wife allowed, it fits on the "Ikea Bar" we installed into our condo... However, of the 15", 5" is used for sump space with 6" length for each chamber... the tank is 14" tall so nice space for alot of equipment. I can fit almost anything, including the new CAD Skimmer (I chose the smaller one)
If I did it again, I would have gone with 3.5" instead of 5, as I would have had much more room in the display, 10" keeps everything tight....
For Top Off, I run the Tunze Osmolator 3155. It has always done the job for me. I set it in the return chamber and have a reservoir in a basket down below with my 2 part supple and other equipment... I would also love to note that my next build will be a full size display (25-30" x 16-20" with similar height) and a large sump for the most volume available and plenty of space for whatever, Equipment, filtration, algae, frags, bubble control, etc....
I hope this has helped, just some personal observations... :bounce3:
