trouble getting brake assembly off

I am cleaning my 6100 streams and have gotten them almost totally taken apart but can not seem to get the brake assembly off - I am trying to follow roger's instructions - do you need to pull the shoes off first? or should you get the shoes extended all the way out and then just pull on the white assembly until it pops off? it is offering a lot of resistance and I do not want to break it

You twist until they pop out, it gives a lot of resistance but keep twisting and they pop out all the way.

aha! thanks - then that remainig smaller white plastic piece after the whole brake assembly comes off - does that come off too or no?

Yes, it just lifts straight off.
