Trouble Keeping SPS

Damn good memory, Yep that was one hell of a bloom

Look to push your MP10 at the highest you can, I run 2 MP40 and 1 MP10 in a 24" cube...

I'll try to stop by, I do work in Ontario a few times a year

well folks i have been keeping my numbers rock soild for the past month.. last friday i tried out two frags... they are alread looking like hell!

Sorry to hear that.

Are you feeding them anything? SPS need food in the water, either from a crap ton (pun) of fish or you sprinkling in coral food on a regular basis.

Newer tanks are so clean and sterile that it's tough IMO. Giving the SPS enough food to remain healthy will increase algae issues since the tank is new as well.

I have been maintaining my levels for the past few weeks as normal, I increased my feeding quite heavily and had a spike in phos 0.4 I've since reduced it to undetectable levels with only about 1/3cup fresh GFO... Headed to the LFS this week I plan on bringing back a tester frag (fingers crossed)

Everyone I know who has a sols has had problems. Most of the time it is not enough light, especially if you have 120 degree optics. Borrow a par meter. How high are your lights? I don't think a 4 or 5 month old tank will kill sps like this because it's not "stable". Use a hanna uln phosphate checker, salifert used to read 0 but it ended up being .2 in my tank :hmm5:

I added SPS to a brand new system, dry rock and a seeded foam filter, no issues at all. I don't agree that it's a "new tank" issue.

Issues to bleach could be something with lighting, very high PO4, something in the water that can't be tested for. I'd suggest lack of filtration, but you have fish and non SPS, so not likely that. You don't mention temp, is it high/low, large swings?

In your experience, when upgrading into a new tank, using same LR, mix of new and old sand, new and old water, does a move like that (going from 125 to 240) cause issues for SPS?

i dont think my lights are the issue, i believe i mentioned previously i am using black box LEDs, running 15%white 35%blue i believe they have 60degree optics, the are now approx 16" from the surface. i will be moding them to add UV & more 420nm this month. i believe if lack of light was they issue they would just brown out now go into complete melt down

my Phos kit is Nyos i got it a couple months ago, i am bringing a sample to the LFS to be checked with a hanna

i feed my clowns quite a bit so they are little poop machines. besides that i also feed reef roids- my LPS get a pellet food & brine once a week..but thats unrelated.

Hey folks! I started running GFO last month even though my phos was very low...I've also modified my black box lights with 3x 470nm, 6x 420nm & 2x 395nm last week I went and bought a TriColor and birds of paradise and.... They are still alive 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Looks like I'm over the bump- previously they would most certainly be dead by now
