Hello

I have a pair of clown fish they are both about 5 years old (I got them as juveniles). About 6 months ago they started laying eggs.Took us a little while to figure out how to actually raise the fry.We built the grow out tanks and all the stuff that goes with it. When I got home today I noticed the female was lethargic and sitting at the bottom of the tile. She should have laid her eggs today around 8 pm. I do not know what is wrong with her, shes breathing heavy, not eating, lethargic and her egg tube is out but around that area is all swollen it almost most looks like an air-bladder problem. Does anyone know what can be wrong and what I can do to help her?

I attached a picture, it maybe hard to see the swollen area but she will not swim up enough to get a good picture.

Thank you
Rose

My favorite guppy blew up because she had too many babies... literally. She was bleeding and junk, wasn't pretty. :(

Anywho, a few months ago my female Black Occy of my breeding pair was lying on the bottom breather heavily. She was pregnant with a batch of eggs at the time and she also would not eat anything. I'm not sure what happened, but I left her overnight and when I woke up she was alive and well again.

I do not know what is exactly happening to her because it's an unusual situation, buy you cannot do anything to help her. You'll bug her by doing anything. Just let her be and see what happens.

I didn't see her oviposter (sp?) in the picture. I have heard of a clown that for some reason did not extend it's oviposter and it's stomach ripped open because of the eggs. I forget it it survived or not though.

By oviposter do you mean breeding tube? I say breeding tube because I'm a n00b. If it's stomach ripped open then it would more than likely die.

Thanks I will just wait and see what happens, since I can't help her and dont want to bug her.Hope she will be ok. :(
