I have been fighting for about 4 months to get my ASM G-1 to skim anything, and I need some help.
It has a sedra 2500 needlewheel pump that has been cleaned and examined and seems ok.
I have adjusted the water depth in the sump from 6 inches to all the way up to the neck.
I have used the foam sleeve and taken it off. I have adjusted the height of the return tube. I have applied the gate valve mod and taken it off.
The gate valve made no difference. It seems that the flow is not the problem, but it seems like I am not getting very small bubbles from the pump. I can manage to get it to pull out a green-tea like skimmate at its best and if I look in the cup, the "foam" coming up the tube is very airy and bubbles like it is "boiling". No real foam at all. What could be wrong?
Do I need to mod the pump?
I read about putting an elbow joint inside the skimmer from the input to send the bubbles straight down first. But I didn't think this would help the bubble size any.
At this point, I would think I should be way past the break in time. I could really use some suggestions!
