Trouble with new Nem

Hi guys... I just joined up on this site and I'm looking for some help. I got a new LTA about a week and half ago and it has yet to attach. It went to the corner of the tank and then back to the middle and hid under a couple of rocks.

I took a picture of his foot today because I noticed that there are some things on it that may be bad sign? Not sure if they are tears, but I don't know what they are, so I'm looking for help.

After reading up some it looks like I may have gotten him way too soon because my tank is only about 3 months old. I have read that you don't even want to think about getting a nem until your tank is at least a year old, but that is not what the LFS I bought him at told me. They said that since my water parameters are good, he'd be fine. Well, I'm not sure how many nems take weeks to attach, but I hope that he will be fine.

Here is his foot:

Here are some facts about my tank:

Age - 3 or so months
Size - 55g
Temp - 78 degrees
Amonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 0
Ph - 8.2
Salinity - 1.25
Cal - 440
Mg - 1550
Alk - 9.2

Any advice/help provided would be greatly appreciated. I hope I don't lose him! :hmm2:

Thanks!

i am just gonna assume the LFS ripped his foot as they bagged him up for you... if he was attached to something... =/ i dont have much experience with LTA's, i did have 1 LTA recover from a Minor small tear, but i heard its hard for LTA's to recover from foot tear's..

Some of these clowns are so overbread they have no idea what to do. Nemos are number one on that list.
I have a pair of tomato clowns that just made eggs a week ago that host all my coral.

CubanReefer, I'd keep the flow down a bit to let the nem heal with as little stress as possible. I would expect it would take atleast 2 weeks. I'd also try to feed it a bit of mysis shrimp. Good Luck and let us know how it goes!

In general, the less you mess with it or move it, the less stress it goes through and the better it's chances for recovery. I had an anemone, that got caught by my hob filter intake, i was horrified and thought it was a goner, but it eventually recovered! Bottom line is, me giving my damaged anemone a stable change free/stress free, environment helped it to recover.

Thanks for the advice guys.. I am going to let him try to recover and feed him a couple of times a week. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks!
