Hi all,
I have had a beautiful crocea clam for about 3 months now. It has done well and always opened up for me. It has also liked the spot it was in and just tweaks its angle so that it doesn't face directly towards the glass but at a 45 degree angle so that it faces more directly into the water flow. Up untill two days ago it opened well but now it keeps closing just a little bit more and more each day. I am including a picture from about 2 months ago and one from tonight. It was a little more open than that earlier but no where near fully open.
My fish and a lot of my corals (not all corals) are listed below in the sig line. I do have a cleaner and coral banded shrimp, emerald and hermit crabs as well. I recently purchased some corals and a very small maxima clam and the maxima lived well for about 2 weeks then one morning I had an empty shell. Now it is about 2 weeks later and this is happening. The only thing I did recently (one week ago) was change my MH ballast to coralvue ballast as I found out the others were not driving my Phoenix 250w DE 14ks to their maximum. The tanks is noticably brighter with the better ballasts. I also have two 48" URI VHO super actinics as well.
All the light hungry corals I have are happy as clams. Now I need to get me clam as happy as corals
