Troy's 270 Gallon plus Fishroom

I'm not sure if you've heard back from BRS, but their reef saver rocks fits together quite seemlessly if the time is taken to put them together. Perhaps they thought you could make the islands shapes with the smaller pieces they sent you?

They never returned my email. I called them and all they said was the size rocks I got are all they have or ever have. They offered to sent me a return authorization to allow me to return whatever amount I wanted to but its been 4 days and no Return authorization has arrived in my email.

That said... I think your right and we will be able to make what we want. I also purchased 2 5-gallon buckets of Marco rock cement to assist in the endeavor.

Looks great Troy!!!! when do you think you will have water flowing into the tank?

Great question!! Not soon enough!!

Couple holdups... one I'm on a business trip this Tues through Friday so no progress then. Then after I return I have another business trip on May 14th for a week. Finally the wife is chomping at the bit to do yard work! She has a very large garden and plans on planting some new trees this year so I'll be using some of my free time on the normal spring stuff...

SO... if I had to guess it will be end of May unfortunately. That said.... I like to get in and get projects done fast so we will so!

My plumbing arrived today! Well... most of it...

I'm having terrible trouble with Bulk Reef Supply.... 1st my rock order issue and now they short me the 3/4" and 1.5" pipe I need! ARGG.. I hope their response is better this time.

Any ideas on alternatives for the SCh80 pipe?

Fantastic looking build!! I love your tank. I think on my next build I'm going to use those dimensions. I have dreamt about a 3' wide tank for along time.

I'm sorry about the issues you're having with BRS. I've never had any issues with them.

I think the depth is going to be killer!! Assuming I do a good job aquascaping!

Back from my business trip.... now on to more serious things:

Some progress. I got the RODI up and running. Still need to plumb the two 55 gal storage tanks. Also finished up the sink. Also I got the Neptune Apex up and running as well...

A couple pics:

I've been along for the ride since you started this build, and let me just say it is impressive. I also would enjoy the build as much as the end result. Enjoy your fantastic build and Good Luck!

Thanks! I also picked up sand and salt this weekend, and some spa PVC as well. I should begin plumbing the tank. A few days.

We are making water! While its not the same as having water in the tank.... its another step in this long process. I put in two 55 gallon drums and a new 6 stage BRS RODI unit into the equipment room. I still have my older unit in the utility room as well as a 55 gallon drum there. That should allow me to make water pretty fast for the day (soon I hope) where water will go into the tank.

The idea is to have one drum for RODI (top off water) where I'll pull from for an ATO system controlled by the Apex. The 2nd drum will be for pre mixed salt water. I put in a Mag pump between the two and have it plumbed to where essentially I can take water from either tank and put it into either tank... or to a third valve to allow for pumping water to 5-gallon buckets or even directly to the sump (or drain).

Here is a picture of the setup... It works great!!
