True Perc question

So I went away for the weekend and left my 2 true percs in the hands of my father (crazy idea) but all he had to do was top off and feed.

Well I came back and since nobody scraped the glass I had a pod explosion!!!!! There must have been over a million, cuz I could barely see thru them in a 8"x8" area.

Well here comes my question. Right now my percs are terrorizing the pods, which doesn't bother me that much, but what bothers me is that they are so hungry that they are doing that. I feed them in the AM with about 1/2 a cube of mysis and a few pellets. They never finish what I put in the tank. Am I underfeeding them or are they just bored with the mysis?

try brine shrimp soaked in garlic, my clowns never really liked mysis that much, only if they were extremely hungry, also, go for a variety. Also try a PM feeding, as long as it wont mess with your nitrates and such.

they eat the mysis, the bigger one pigs out on like 6-7 shrimp, the little guy eats 2-3 and then they stop.

And I feed them blood worms every other day as well. I guess I could try a pm feeding as well, would stop me from wasting half a cube a day.

Skip the brine... not much nutrition for the meal. They are going after the pods because they are a natural food and active/alive. More entertaining then frozen food. Don't worry, they are eating more than enough mysis too! That's a lot for a perc.

Well I agree with that. But whats gonna happen when the explosion of pods dwindles down again?

you may have to get them back on frozen food using frozen cyclopeze and slowly mixing the mysis back into their diet

I guess I can give that a shot, I just picked up some Prime reef, figured I'd see how they react to that
