true perc with gaping mouth

it was only recently (tonight) that i noticed this, my true perc has his mouth open. he has been hanging out near a pink tipped frogspawn. is it possible that his mouth was stung by it? he is also not eating which is what worries me the most!

a friend said its "cotton mouth"? bacterial infection? will this go away?

there is nothing in his mouth and it seems like there is something white in it.

im sorry about that that is a beautifull fish could you try a dip of some sort to try and kill whatever that is

most of the tomato clowns at petco have cotton mouth. it looks like a white ball. kinda looks slimy. maybe try a FW dip. best of luck

Well there are a ton of medications that claim to work on mouth fungus. You could try Pimafix, or Triple Sulfa tablets. You could also try Maracyn.

I wouldn't use any of them in your main display tank though. Pimafix apparently is reef safe, but I wouldn't risk it.

i used melafix and pima fix in my tank once its scarrry the skimmer goes nuts the corals all react but everything did come back fine i dont reccomend this though

Yup, I had the same experience. Corals didn't open up as wide during the whole week and my skimmer was filling up with water atleast once a day. Even after the massive water change after the treatment it took a week or 2 for everything to get back to normal.

Treatment didn't help either, btw

Well with my fish I think my problem turned out to be Lymphocystis (sp) and none of the treatments helped at all and my fish eventually faught it off on their own and are now looking fairly good. Some small specs still visible but I imagine in time everything will work itself out. This isn't what the op has though.
