True Tri Color Acro

btw, i
i've had mine for about 5 months. color faded in a month and was brown. over the months it was getting lighter and lighter and finally i'm seeing improvement

Ryshark, how long have you had yours?
Dave said he was running 400w with 1000w mh. Even if you were running the same lights, it would be better to still acclimate them since every system can be different. the description for this coral says easy in sps tank which i guess means easy to keep alive but brown. If the majority of your corals are doing well then i wouldnt worry about it.
btw, i scraped the glass this morning and it has a purplish hue to it now with the encrusting part showing the most non-tan brown color

I got it at the last CFM from Stryker who got his from Vivid. The frags Styker was selling looked even nicer than the frags Vivid was selling. So, I have had it over 4-months. I did light acclimate it up to high light. I only have a couple brown corals in my tank, most of my other acros are very nicely colored. I'm glad yours is coloring up finally, hopefully mine is not far behind. Sorry we derailed this thread....at least the vivid rainbow delight is suposed to be a True Tri Color Acro like the title reads.
This is a bad picture of when I first got it.

ryshark, dont know what cfm is and when it took place. I was at the recent camarrillo frag swap.
Just to give you guys an update, now that the actincs are on, the entire frag looks reddish. never paid any attn to it since you guys have been bringing this up. Had to scrape a whole lot of coralline to get a close look. Since you posted a pic and many others seem to be having trouble with this tri color rainbow delight, i will update you guys with a pic when my camera and lens comes in around the 13th of this month

finally got my new lens in and got some pics of my rainbow's progress. I got this 6 months ago. within a month or so it browned out. moved it slightly lower and in another month or so, the tips lost its color completely. the encrusting part has the most color with a bright green mixed with some dark color and the tip is showing the most improvement. the darker pic was taken at a higher aperature and the brighter ones at lower aperature. nothing else was done to the pics. I hope these pics will prevent you guys from brushing this acro to the side or selling it off. just takes patience.

Thanks for the pics, the vivid's rainbow delight, sure is a tough one to keep color/color up. Hopefully mine starts coming back soon too. Mine rainbow delight is pretty much the same exact story as yours, except on not even getting that green new growth. However, I like to believe I am starting to see a little purple color in the tips.

Your very welcome. It's good to know that we share the same struggle with this but it's the challenge of keeping sps that keeps us in this hobby, not to mention the hundreds of different varieties of acros available. hahaha. Ive seen someone else have a totally different colored rainbow. hopefully mine colors up like the one at vivid. i'll post more update pics when it's colored to my satisfaction.
