Trumpet Coral dying question?

I got a bright yellow Trumpet Coral the other day, and I am worried about it. I haven't seen the tentacles during the day (which I hear is normal though). The mouth opens at night, but I still don't see tentacles. I set food in it's "trumpet" and it isn't putting out the tentacles. The coloration is the same as when I got it, but this worries me. What signs would be a sure giveaway that it is dead, or dying?

It's probably just acclimating itself, give it some time.

The tentacles come out at night on my trumpets. Try target feeding with very small mysis shrimp or plankton sized food like cyclopseeze with the pumps off. Your description sounds like everything is OK. Tissue recession is the worst sign and you didn't mention that.

Yellow? That sounds neat. Is it true yellow? Any chance you could post a photo? I didn't know there was a yellow morph available. True yellow is hard to come by in stony corals IME at least.

Yeah, a couple hours later it looked way worse that that. It's a goner :-(

Yea that one is on its way out unfortunately. They don't do well if the lighting is too strong...maybe that was the problem.

Just FYI that color is referred to often as neon or cryptonite green.

Post what they are.. I had issues with trumpets when Alk. Fell too low.

I wouldnt give up on it just yet. Ive had some that looked pretty bad like that. They ended up coming back. Just give it time. Maybe lower it in the tank so that its not getting as much light.

My Peppermint shrimp were literally pulling pieces out of the inside and eating it. Pretty sure it is done for. :-(

We're they eating the trumpet or food you tried giving it? If they're eating the actual trumpet then it is indeed dead .

The trumpet itself was being ate. The food was brown in color. The peps were eating white stuff from the inside of it.
