trying out some LPS

Ive started buying some LPS frags from the LFS over the past few weeks and want to make sure my lighting is sufficient. My LFS said I should be ok but I want to check with all of you since you aren't just interested in making money off me. I recently got a duncan (doing well, placed about half way up the tank) and a torch (just got this, placed on bottom based off what I read). I have a 90g standard rectangle tank with aquaticlife 48" T5 lighting. Will this work for the Torch? I havent had any issues with the Duncan, but it is not placed as low as the torch. Can a torch be placed anywhere other than the bottom if my lighting isnt sufficient?

It's 25 3/8 from the top of the tank to the bottom. minus the 2" sandbed and then the distance between the lights and the top of the tank. I would say from bulb to sandbed is somewhere between 25"-26"

I have alot of LPS in my 90 with a Tek 6 bulb 48" fixture. I have 3 brains on the sand bed, a duncan, war coral, hammer, and meteor shower about mid way up, all doing Excellent!

Do you think I should try and move the Torch up? When I bought it, it was retracted from being placed right in the path of a blower (or so I was told). It has opened up a little since I brought it home but the tentacles are still very small. I just want to make sure it is in the best possible position so it can recover from how it was at the LFS.

I'll post one when I get home. I moved him up about half way in my tank about the same height as my Duncan. We'll see how he looks later today.

Here is the torch after 3 days in my tank. It was on the bottom before but has been half way since last night .

How did your Torch do Joon16? I've got a standard 90 gall as wel running Vetrex LED's. Yesterday I placed a Torch about the same position as yours. It is slowly opening and thought I have my doubts as to it placement I've decided to just leave it and observe.

just tagging along, ok? I just got corals too (first time) I seem to like LPS , My torch is at the sand and the tip is 28 inches from my Radion wich is set at 60% mid day. The Radion starts a slow morning to night time with the 60% ramping mid day for 2 hours peak.

I tagged along since you are talking new torch like mine and lighting questions. Mine has been in for 6 days and started with the tips about a 1/16 of an inch (probably why it was on sale at the LFS, and now it is almost 1/4 inch with flowing tips. so my lighting with LED seems to support it so far. I know the OP has T5, I just wanted to ad a little.
