I am in the planning stages of a nano. I would like to find an "original" 20-30 gallon tank. I would like it to be wide front to back, but am open to hear any idea.

Links would be cool as well.

Thanks.

what do you mean by "original"? Like a unique one? One where someone made it completely different than others? Or do you mean you are having trouble finding a "regular" 20-30 gallon tank?

Sorry for the confusion. I am looking for one that is different than the usual. I don't really know what I am looking for, just know that I don't want the average run of the mill tank.

Thanks

Well, when I decided to move to a much smaller tank I selected a 30 gallon cube. I built the hood and stand myself. I put the stand on 2 1/2 inch casters, so I can actually roll the tank around the room. I've also had hex tanks, but I find that the cube gives you an undistorted view. The best part is these tanks are cheap and easy to get.

My 2 copper

IDK how strong the casters/wheels are...but i'd be kinda weary about putting a tank on wheels. A small tank like 30g can way pretty dang heavy...a lot heavier than most people thats for sure.

wow those tanks are amazing! i want to try a DIY tank with an overflow like that.

I would be interested in that as well. I think that you would need to plan the stand along with that. I wounder what the evaportaion levels are like with those tanks.

....still looking for the perfect (affordable) unique tank

careful with the casters....unless they are heavy duty furniture moving type casters with a weight rating i would just lose em. a full 30 gallon cube with rock can weigh in at around 350-400lbs. i was planning casters in my 40 stretch hex but had nightmares of one caster (or more) buckling and all of my money hitting the carpet...lol

i've got a 28 gallon tank...except its 5 feet long, only a foot tall, and only 9.5 inches front to back. As soon as i move out, i'm gonna try and recilicone it and turn it to a reef. (neighbor gave it to me w/bad seems). But that tank would be extremely easy to light and everything. You'd be able to keep quite a few of the littler species..
